60-minute, one-on-one physical therapy for sports injuries and return to sport with Ariel Osharenko, PT, at the On Point clinic at 44-01 21st Street, Suite 203 (between Queens Plaza and Court Square), or in your home anywhere in NYC. Monday to Friday, 9:30 AM to 8:00 PM. (347) 871-6814.
Who I work with
- Runners, from first 5K to marathon.
- Lifters: Olympic weightlifting, powerlifting, CrossFit and general strength training.
- Team-sport athletes: soccer, basketball and other field and court sports.
- Anyone who trains regularly and wants to keep training.
What’s different about sports physical therapy here
- A strength-and-conditioning background. I coached at NYU and Georgetown and ran the Chelsea Piers Weightlifting Club, so rehab connects directly to training.
- Decisions based on numbers. Force plates, hop tests, the Y-balance test and side-to-side strength testing.
- Smart training load. We plan how much you train while you recover. See the role of strength and conditioning.
- 60 minutes, one-on-one, every session. No aides, no double booking.
Sports injuries I treat
- ACL and knee injuries: ACL rehab and knee pain.
- Ankle sprains: see rehabilitation of ankle sprains.
- Hamstring, groin and calf strains.
- Tendon pain and overuse injuries: see overuse injuries? think again.
- Shoulder injuries from lifting or throwing: shoulder pain.
- Back pain from lifting: back pain.
Services
- Injury rehab from day one to full training.
- Return-to-sport testing.
- Injury-prevention screening (FMS).
- Blood flow restriction training and dry needling when they help.
Who this isn’t for
- If you need an in-network clinic, I’m out-of-network.
- If an injury needs imaging or a surgical opinion first, I’ll refer you to a doctor.
Insurance and cost
On Point Physical Therapy is an out-of-network, private-pay practice. However, as a courtesy to our patients, we offer direct insurance billing. Our billing specialist will submit claims on your behalf to your insurance provider for potential out-of-network reimbursement, subject to the benefits and coverage of your individual plan.
No referral needed to start. New York’s Direct Access law lets you see a licensed physical therapist without a prescription for up to 10 visits or 30 days, whichever comes first.

Frequently asked questions
Is sports physical therapy only for elite athletes? No. If you run, lift, play a sport or train regularly, it’s for you. The goal is the same: get you back to doing it, stronger.
Can I keep training while I’m injured? Usually, with changes. We find what you can do without making things worse, so you stay fit while the injury recovers.
What is return-to-sport testing? Objective tests of strength, jumping, balance and movement, compared side to side, that tell us when you’re ready for the next step. See testing functional performance before return to sport.
Will you work with my coach? Yes, with your permission. Rehab works better when your training plan and your rehab plan match.
Do you help prevent injuries? Yes. Movement screening and strength work for the areas you tend to hurt. See how physical therapy can decrease injury risk.
